Wish List

Wondering what supplies would be helpful to keep The Handmade Afghans Project moving? Like all volunteer organizations, we have a list of items we need to continue and enhance our project.    Please consider donating any of the following:

Acrylic, worsted weight yarn -- partial or full skeins to be used for rectangle making and crocheting afghans together (please, no pink or baby yarn)

Thin red, white and/or blue ribbon – the ¼ inch width ribbon for tying on the packaged afghans for delivery

Empty paper boxes – for delivering the handmade afghans to Walter Reed Army Medical Center and for storing supplies

Gift cards -- from Staples or Office Depot to cover printing costs, and AC Moore or Michael's to buy yarn for crocheting afghans together

Safety Pins – smaller ones for pinning cards to the afghans packaged for delivery

Clear plastic bags – 33 gallon-size for wrapping the clean afghans for delivery and various size zip-lock bags for storing rectangles and various supplies

Reams of paper – bright white, 24 pound, 115 bright paper for printing the "Thank you for your sacrifice to our country" cards that go with each afghan

Clothes washing detergent – it must be "ALL clear brand" – for washing the afghans. This brand is less likely to cause allergic reactions

White tables cloths or sheets -- To cover tables when assembling rectangles at Put Together Events

Of course,  monetary donations are always accepted to help cover the cost of supplies, materials, printing, boxes, and mailing.

The thing that is REALLY, REALLY needed is  6" x 9" Rectangles.

Remember every one takes us one step closer to

thanking another person wounded in service to our country!
